  1. Hello there!

This video is really presenting a WEAK argument...

Black children are the largest segment of abandoned children in foster care.

At least 70% of black children are born out of wedlock. Visiting your children IS NOT the same thing as living in the home and raising them and protecting them on a daily basis while being married to their mother.

    It is not the same.

Accusing Obama of blaming black men for all society's problems is also a lame attack. Obama was addressing the issue of fatherhood.

There is nothing wrong with Obama speaking about black fatherlessness when he suffered as a boy because of a neglectful black father who didn't bother to be in his life. He doesn't have to be silent about his experience or the detrimental impact on black children of fatherlessness.

The person who created that argument in the video didn't go the the U.S. Census website... black men in the U.S. are the largest segment of male groups that have abandoned their children in the ENTIRE world.

    Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!

  2. Thank you for that comment. The video was a pretty weak defense of black fatherhood. President Obama was only speaking his truth.

Additionally, I have written about the amazing black fathers in my family on this blog. While we must be careful not to paint all black fathers as deadbeat dads - we also cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend there is not a crisis in our community.

  3. One can go just about anywhere to find someone to back there argument, this is unfortunate. But I agree Black men are not there for there children, but also it is a shame that they excused from there roll. That the women are okay with them walking away and not holding them responsble for their actions.

  4. Anon: A lot of black men are there for the children, but there are many who are not. I think there are a lot of women who let men get away with not financially supporting their children for various reason. This is equally wrong as it takes two incomes to raise a child. Some would disagree with that, but even if the woman is more financially stable - cut that in half. Two parents. Two incomes.

As for actually parenting their children... No one can make a parent love and spend time with their child. We all make choices and those choices have consequences.
